Spotwork Professionals
Spotwork
Spotwork is an app that makes it easy for people to find shift/daily, contract, or full-time work. Download the app, create your profile, and start earning.
Spotwork was founded in 2019 in Toronto, Ontario.
The Spotwork app is available in both Canada and the US.
Pay
All Spotwork Professionals receive pay the following week for shifts completed during the current week every Thursday.
Pay is sent via e-transfer to the email provided upon profile completion.
Spotwork Professionals must ensure they are clocking in AND out of every gig they complete through the app in order to receive accurate pay. If by chance there is an error, Professionals need to fill in the help form HERE. Spotwork’s customer service team will promptly look into the issue and get back to you within 5 days.
GigWage is a secure pay portal Spotwork uses to pay Professionals safely and fast. You will get an automatic invitation from GigWage after you download the Spotwork app and create your profile. GigWage will then walk you through the steps to set up your payment method.
Working a shift
Download the app and log in using your mobile number. Once you log in, available jobs near you will be displayed on your home page.
After you download the app, log in using your mobile number and complete your profile. After completing your profile you are ready to apply to jobs. On the home screen of the app, select a job you are interested in. Read the job description and requirements carefully. If you have missing requirements, you can full them by selecting the upload button beside Requirements. After you have all the requirements, you can apply. Scroll down and select the days you are available to work and select apply. You will receive a notification if you are offered the shifts selected. You must confirm the offer to work the shifts.
Every job posted on the Spotwork platform may have requirements. You must fulfil each requirement listed in the requirements sections for every job you wish to work. Requirements may be Spotwork courses (these can be completed in the education section of the app) or equipment/certification requirements ( these can be uploaded under your profile or the upload link listed in the requirements section of each job).
Once you have accepted an upcoming job, you can find the directions and entrance instructions under the job description (jobs you are hired for are listed under the Hired tab).
No you can not attend a shift if you have not been hired through the app. You must wait until you receive an offer from an employer to work a shift. You then must accept the offer and the shift will appear in your Hired jobs tab within the app.

Taxes
Spotwork does not tax your income received through the app.
Spotwork does not report the hours you work or the income you earn through the app to any government entities.
You are classified as an Independent Contractor when working any shifts through the Spotwork platform. Therefore, it is your responsibility to report your income to any government entities if you choose to do so.
As an independent contractor, it is your responsibility to file your taxes.
You can use any reputable tax preperation company to help you file your taxes. You will need to show proof of payments from Spotwork in order to file your taxes. These can be found using your personal banking history.
Spotwork can also provide you with your T4A upon request.
